Its a toss up between koala, vee and glory hole.

They're all really well designed and make for some pretty good matches (provided you have skilled players)

I really like BoomBox, the bases are defendable so the game doesn't end up a stalemate with both flags being held, and the middle area allows for good chases.

I haven't been really enjoying Boom Box, but admittedly I haven't played much of it with several vets on at the same time. It seems sort of limited in the interactions you can have on it, although not as much as figure 8 used to be.

I always enjoy Death Star, Vee, and Glory Hole is probably my favorite. Koalabeast (Koaladude?) is also an excellent map, but more than almost any other suffers if your team isn't working together. Having a button-sitter is almost always essential, so it's frustrating as hell to chase down a flag carrier to almost immediately hear the flag being picked up again because the opponents simply came flooding across the top. Half of your team's defense is the time it takes your opponents to arrive after being popped. It should be interesting to see if any of the new clans can work out some concerted strategy on the center gate.

I feel like Boom Box opens up new interactions for the defense, and makes midfield players feel much more relevant. Things like using buttons to limit juke space and entry space, and/or taking the faster path to the enemy base if they run past you.

If you're placing offense, you have to be especially creative on this map, the boosters have to be thought out, grabbing powerups on the sides can be a risk whilst having the flag. But if boosted right, capping can be quite fun and flag runners even have the ability to pop chasers with tunnels.

I also think the map encourages teamwork overall.

Boom box is a fun map to run around with the flag, but there is not much strategy as far as the map layout is concerned except for that bottom spike strip on either end. Too simple IMO.

Glory hole has always been fun, but I don't think a room full of goodies bodes well for a league setting. Maybe drop that room to one pickup. Otherwise that map is real fun.

Star to me is too small and hard to get an advantage on which could lead to stalemates in organized play.

Vee is a great basic map with nice space and attack points around the flags. I like its very fun to attack, less so to defend.

Honestly, I'd be fine if that map lost the bottom room entirely, maybe replacing it with just one power up location where the spikes currently end. Although it does seem to have a bit too much open space in the flag areas to make it as competitive as it probably needs to be for MLTP.

You might be right about Death Star too, but I enjoy the balance between attacking and defending in that one.

Agreed about defending on Vee. Pretty rough spot to be in on that map.

I think Glory hole has a lot of good elements. If it was worked on a bit, it could be a good league map.


Things I like:

1) The top half. Lots of room for positional team strategy with those gates ("macro" strategy).

2) The spike corridor. Opportunities for blocking plays there ("micro" strategy). Plus there's the downboost which everyone loves.


Things that need to be changed:


1) There are no bases. It's way to easy to re-grab the flag and it's too easy to run around (at least in pubs).

2) Five powerups in one spot is way too much for league play. Maybe two powerups at the most, or get rid of the power up room since, although iconic, it's a bit tacky.

also i like that ghole's ghole has a lot of powerups
i would never go down there if i didn't think i'd get a boom bom
